Liberty

CyclopsJnr was keen to see the Statue of Liberty close up, so we took the ferry to Liberty Island and went exploring.  We got tickets that let us go right up inside the pedestal which has great views back towards Manhattan.  You can also see up inside the statue!  It is possible to get tickets to go up a tiny spiral staircase right to the crown, but you have to book months in advance and we weren't that organised.  Not sure how much it would have added anyway.

Afterwards we took the ferry across to Ellis Island and had a look at some of the exhibits there.  CyclopsJnr enjoyed listening to stories recorded by immigrants who went through Ellis Island on the audio guide.

We were out for more than five hours, it was such a good trip.

By the time we got back to the mainland it was time to head for the airport, and for home.
