Monday (catching up)

Changed Biscuit's chain for a new-fangled X-ring one that'll hopefully weather the winter better. The original had gotten a few tight links that bothered me despite regular fettling over it's life.

Have never changed a motorcycle chain before but saw this spring clipped link in the packaging and thought "Yes, that'll be easy"

Cutting the old chain off with a grinder was a cinch as was cleaning the gunk off everywhere and wrapping the new chain around. Upon opening the packaging for the link though I discovered another link - a riveted type that needs a tool to install - along with some tiny instructions saying the spring link is for *Caps Lock On* OFF ROAD USE ONLY *Caps Lock Off*

As this task was on my Nightshift lunch break just after 1am a wee panic ensued before rationality kicked in...and the chain was assembled with the spring clip so I could ride home!

The internet hasn't been helpful as to whether it'll be okay or not so am considering nipping to a local motorbike garage sometime this week to ask their opinion and possibly ask them to fit the rivet link because impending bike holiday and this gal is busy enough anyway...
