In the old pre-digital days I took slides. We’ve had a few professionally scanned before but it would cost a fortune to have them all done. So they sit in boxes or in slide sheets in ring binders and nobody ever looks at them. And they’re probably slowly degrading too. Digital is just so much more convenient.
Today I started trying to use this set up to digitise them all. On top, my ‘big camera’ with a pretty good 50mm macro lens, mounted on my tripod and pointing down at a light box. Put the slide on the light box, focus and snap. The results are pretty good. Not perfect of course but for the vast majority, good enough.
