Travellers Tales

Up the road we sped to inverness; a glorious day for a drive. P’s old mum had departed the scene last week leaving her old dad John and we thought we ought to go up and give her a bit of support. Some other friends had also made the journey – J&G from next door and Rich and Carol, who we bumped into in Starbucks in Inverness as we stopped for a coffee and a place to put on my tie. And after the service we yapped with Neil and Carol from Aberdeen who we’d last seen at Boat of Garten at New Year 2020. All very good to catch up again, and I even managed to nick a sausage roll in my pocket for the drive back.
A proper religious service too; at one point the minister, recalling Aileen’s uncertainties about the afterlife told how she’d said it may be a lot of nonsense. She’ll know now, he gravely intoned.
Or not, of course.
Home down that road, cruise controlling all the way. An average of 56mph and 67mpg. That’s alright eh?
