Bird Heaven
My first full day at my daughter's and it was a busy one - at least for me.
My daughter and SIL are avid birders and live in an area of the province that gets more varieties of birds than I get at home. They are quite close to the migration paths of birds coming north across Lake Erie and are well set up for feeders and bird houses to accommodate even birds that are just passing through. I can sit in her sunroom and watch all the bird action from the comfort of a sofa! Today I was quite enamoured with the woodpeckers and the flicker.(extra)
Michole, a good friend of mine from my teaching days moved to London with her husband Tim when they retired, and as my daughter lives close to London, when I would go to see her, I would always spend time with Michole and Tim as well. Michole died in the autumn of 2022, but I still go to see Tim. He is confined in a wheelchair after having had a stroke many years ago and is now being cared for by his daughter and her husband. It is always a wonderful, but poignant visit, and today was no different. We had a lot to catch up on - many laughs but tears too.
That afternoon, as is usually the case when I visit, my SiL's parents arrived for a get-together and a very tasty turkey dinner! (A big bonus of visiting there is that both my daughter and SIL love to cook. The meals are delicious but healthy too.)
Birdwatching, socializing and dining well? Who could ask for more?
So glad I came to visit!
