THE VISIT
Mairi and the grandkids came to visit last week
It’s been two years now
I thought the future was bleak
I packed a bag
We set off to Glencoe
We had a blast
The way to go
Took the kids horse riding
They had some fun
I took some pictures
That was my turn
We did some swimming
That was fun
Had to rest next day
Body felt like a ton
Dined at the Clachaig
Had some lovely food
Kids played outside
While we enjoyed the mood
Mairi took them for a walk
Round the beautiful lochan up through the wood
While I rested up
And just read a book
Breakfast at Crafts
Time to head home
The Glen was resplendent
The hills closing in
They stayed another week
And looked after me well
While I had chemo
That wasn’t so swell
Early start Tuesday
Off to the airport
Said our goodbyes
That was a blow
Gave the feathers a shake
Set out on the bike
Moffat with my mates
No time to brake
Time to recover
In this big empty house
It seems very quiet
I might hear a mouse
