Empty beaches and a big sky
We had a busy day today.
The morning started with Jan at the dentist. I dropped her off and then went for a walk along the North Sound waterfront. Once the dentist was done with Jan we drove southward, headed for Sundsvall.
On the way down we parked by a path to a nature reserve and followed the path to this beach. We come here at least twice a year, often with visitors because it is so close to the airport. Access is designed so you can get from the car park to here (about 2 kms) in a wheelchair, with a pram etc. There are a couple of picnic places with a fireplace and a few tables.
Because the beach is about a kilometer long and because it's part of a nature reserve it feels very wild. Lots of tree trunks washed up on the beach and very few people. There are still small ice-floes on the river so it's no surprise there was no-one sitting around on the beach.
After the beach we continued into town, did some shopping, ate lunch at the Indian restaurant and drove home, via a few more shops.
It was a good day, even the shopping bits, but my memories of the day will be of the blue sea, the beautiful cloudscape, the reflections of trees in still water (extra), the empty beach, birdsong, and nesting swans (also in the extra but you have to look hard).
