Rubber stamp art

Oh this was so much fun!
I found a drawing my son Dallas did when he was just 4 years old. My grandson (his son) is 4 now, so I just couldn't resist sending the drawing to Dallas. My next thought was, I must decorate the envelope with rubber stamp art!

One of the things we did when my kids were little, was to make cards using rubber stamps. Dallas was given a set of stamps for his birthday... and the rest is history! We found a local Art Rubber Stamp store, bought more supplies and soon I worked there part-time. I taught classes using rubber stamps for cards, mail art, handmade books, Christmas ornaments, boxes, scarves and T-shirts. Later, I was published in stamping and craft magazines. I even sold my own line of stamps I had professionally made! Rubber stamping brought me back to doing art after becoming a busy mom and eventually led me to creating mixed media art. No wonder I had fun stamping this envelope for Dallas!

One of the stamps on the envelope was a drawing he did (the world's best Mom) that I made into a stamp. Lots of the other ones we had on hand and used while he was growing up.

Quite a story! And, a big part of my art journey. It's lovely for me to write about it here, remember and reflect. One of the many great aspects of Blipfoto. :o)
