The Pensioner

DrD and his bucket

A whole day getting the sails on, with associated stack pack and lines. Of course it would have been much quicker if I hadn’t had to go and help step two masts, and then become water taxi man, and then hold the safety line when Dawson went up his mast. All part of being clubbable.
What probably was avoidable, and what did hold me up, was that I’d a good amount of water under my boards. At lift in I’d checked the stern gland, and the heads sea cocks – all watertight and correct. Unfortunately I’d forgotten that I’d also removed (and replaced) the speed log. But had I tightened it up? I had not… dribble dribble…
Anyway, all was done by 7pm and when I arrived back, the SK being out with her gals, and the back garden still being in sun, I took myself up to the eyrie to sit with a cup of tea and relax.
