Late in the day in Mote Park
More work on the house this morning, shifting cooker and washing machine so that new flooring can be laid next week. The gardeners started today making good progress on the front garden. It’s beginning to look as it was when the tenants took over. Two more days of work might see it done.
We attended a memorial service for a former colleague from some 40 years ago when we were teachers at Wrotham School in the 1980s. I learned about Joan’s passing from another teacher from that era with whom I’ve exchanged Christmas cards for 4 decades. She suggested a reunion of staff from those days could form part of the memorial service.
In the end I would say some 15 of us turned up, many having not seen each other since those days. And it was brilliant. It was a great staff room, a wonderful place to teach and it was like we’d just been on summer holiday and come back for a new term - albeit having aged a bit during the holiday.
I was struggling for a blip today, this was the only real opportunity as the sun slipped away over the lake in Mote Park.
