A bridge of two halves

The Old Spey Bridge at Fochabers - usually glimpsed from the modern road bridge (built ~1970), but today H and I walked along at the river level.

It was originally built 1801-06. In the "Muckle Spate" of 1829 two arches were washed away. They were replaced by a single timber span in 1831, upgraded to cast iron in 1853.
