New arrivals...

...today on the Slipper Mill Pond, five funky coot babies. They are so agile, even at just a couple of days old, moving at speed in the water as the tide was coming in. The parent coots were nervous about the nearby herring gulls swooping down but are feisty and protective. It was the highlight of my day and I've included a few more photos in extras.

The beautifully warm weather with sunshine and blue skies was the backdrop for Pope Francis's funeral in Rome this morning. The coverage on BBC TV was dignified and movingly done. The snippets of Presidents Zelensky and Trump were a distraction but unavoidable. May good come of their tête-à-tête at least.
