Spike and Walter

Tim and Owen came up today bringing their new puppy, Walter. His DNA profile mentions twelve different breeds but the main ones are chihuahua, Pit Bull and bulldog. He’s quite calm for a puppy. He’d like to play with Spike but Spike really doesn’t want to. They’re surprisingly restrained as they work out each other’s boundaries….note: Spike has Walter’s tennis ball.

We made it to the Farmers’ Market this morning before it started raining. Now we’re sitting in the living room looking at old topo maps from our backpacking trips in the Sierra. Pretty soon we’ll be delving into the old metal box containing letters from grandparents and even a few from a great grandfather. The most significant part is the copperplate handwriting. Nobody writes like that anymore. The old photographs will be next.

Dana and Jim will be over later to meet Walter and have dinner. I may have to post some of the pictures we’ve resurrected. Some of them are quite funny.
