Cottle Lake

Today being sunny and Saturday, we decided to find a trail.  B. explored this once before, but from another trailhead which was much longer.  This was a very manageable afternoon for our old hips and knees.  
I'll ask my Flum friend to advise on what type of ducks these are and confirm that the second photo is mature fiddlehead ferns?  I have eaten fiddleheads but they were tender and all green but for the base..... to be honest I wasn't moved to add them to the meal rotation.
