Life in Sunny Dubai

Easter

(27.4.25)

My alarm went off at 4 AM, and I was ready to leave home at 5:10. G is a morning person, so doesn’t struggle with this!

It was lovely to see the roads so clear, though there were a number of cars out doing the same as us! It was crazy to see loads of Ethiopians clad in white walking back to their cars. We found out later that their service began at midnight and they finished at 5. Our service began at 5:30, and I can honestly say I have never seen the church so full for the Easter sunrise service!

As we were up and dressed, I took G for breakfast to the Hilton hotel on the Creek. It was lovely to sit outside and enjoy the breeze. We then drove towards the mouth of the Creek and saw this dhow, which seemed to have run aground. By the time we found a safe place to leave the car, the crew had managed to fix the problem. They turned the boat around and headed in the opposite direction from which the boat was facing. I don’t think it is loaded properly, the weight isn’t balanced right.

The rest of the day was quiet/lazy. We were too full to contemplate anything for lunch. G had noted that there was a pet obedience competition and fashion show, so we went back to the DWTC. We missed the obedience display but caught the fashion show. I can’t say I like what owners do to their pets. There should be a law against putting clothes and sunglasses on them!

And just like that, my long weekend has come to an end. I’m so glad I took Friday off. I have also taken Monday afternoon off. And I have to record that all of this weekend, my team has been on-site in Abu Dhabi delivering the Abu Dhabi edition of Comic Con.
