Gillipaw's Journal

Holmwood House, Glasgow

Detail of the exterior of the Dining Room at Holmwood House. Designed by Alexander "Greek" Thomson in 1857/8 for James Couper a papermill owner, it is probably the finest example of Thomson's domestic design work.

It is interesting to see the conservation in progress, the Dining Room being the most stunning room, with freizes depicting Greek texts and very elaborate door design.

I was also out and about yesterday at the Glasgow River Festival.
