Shutting Up Shop For A Sing-Along, Maidstone
It was the usual weekly food shop today followed by the usual drink at the Horseshoes. It was a glorious day today so we sat outside and soaked up the sun. On the way there we passed a number of beautiful Jaguar E Types so there must have been a car meet up somewhere but we never found out where it was!
As we have done a few times over the past couple of months or so we decided to pop into town to see if we could capture an image to two. When we arrived there seemed to be some sort of Cub Scout thing going on but unfortunately my street photography confidence has deserted me and so I didn't take any shots. However, walking down a side street I spotted this half hidden poster of a singer in an empty shop's window. I really liked how the strong sunshine created these dramatic shadows and graphic elements that really helped enhance the composition.
The extra is a sort of self portrait. For some reason this building near the river had been attacked with red paint and the glass doors smashed. The shattered glass glowed in the sun and really reminded me of when a flashgun goes off and is captured in a photograph. I also felt it represented how frazzled your brain can get when everything gets too much, like a looping form of feedback.
