Cake Number 1

The sun shone over Redbrook this morning. It was absolutely gorgeous. The water was 11.8° and sparkled in the sunshine. Louise and Ruth swam to the first buoy for the first time and Suzanne went on to the second buoy for the first time. It is wonderful to see the girls enjoy their achievements.

As we were getting dressed they produced this cake. I hadn’t seen them carry it or get it out so it was a lovely surprise. It has mermaid candles!!!! Mermaids!!! How brilliant is that. Even the serviettes had mermaids on them. We all had a piece with our hot drinks before heading off to the cafe in Delph. Louise had brought me a balloon which I swam with. As another group of swimmers swam by me they sang Happy Birthday …it is the little things like that which are so special. I took the balloon into the cafe and when Andrea came to take our order she saw it and then came back with a cake with a candle in for me and 6 pieces of cake for the girls, how nice was that! That was cake number 2.

I went to Pat’s this afternoon and Tracey turned up with a cake! Cake number 3 lol. I have been very spoiled and it isn’t even my birthday yet. I am so lucky to have such wonderful friends in my life.
