A trip down to Newcastle with my dad today. Ostensibly a birthday present for him but something I also really wanted to do. We were attending an afternoon with Les Ferdinand a favourite player of both of us from the 90s.

Obviously, this wasn’t a personal afternoon, but we took our place amongst a large number of similar fans in City Hall to see Sir Les interviewed by local sports journalism legend John Gibson.

John was maybe a little lengthy in his questions and turning it into the Gibson show occasionally but Les came across incredibly well with some genuinely interesting stories, and saying all the right things to please the Geordie faithful.

A long day driving down and back up with the expected occasional lecture from my dad giving for Thorne subjects on which he thinks his expert but overall an enjoyable day in the Sun and a couple of hours listening to one of my footballing heroes.

Les on stage in the extras (not shot on analogue).
