More sleuthing...

Spent the morning driving around old family addresses. This house is where Paul's Aunt and Uncle lived with their seven children — so many great memories were shared. It overlooks a cricket ground, and we took a walk around, it's such a beautiful setting. The yard, now a car park, used to be their playground, racing around in a homemade go-kart.

We also visited his grandparents’ home and his mum and dad’s first house. It was special to do it with Bex  — I think it gave her an even deeper connection to the family tree she's been working so hard on.

In the afternoon, we visited Paul's last remaining maternal aunt. Sadly, her health and mind are fading. As we left, we said we’d see her again in September. Her reply — "if I'm still here" — was a sobering moment as we started the journey home.

Heavy traffic on the M6, but we made it back in time — Paul cut the lawn, I put a wash on. True grown-up stuff!
