MONO MONDAY - MOTION
I messaged a couple of friends when I first got up - and then had a great conversation with Blip friend whilst having my breakfast, before going into town to get a refund on some jeans I had bought last week, but which didn’t fit that well.
I was on the look out for something for Mono Monday and decided that I would just stand outside a couple of shops and take a few shots of people walking by.
Then I spotted this little café and wine bar - so took this in honour of another dear Blip friend, Heanku and I hope she will appreciate this, because she knows what “fika” means, but perhaps this is not quite how she would do it, but you have Fika in Swindon but not Sweden!
There is some motion in this shot, albeit small - but this guy is touching his hair, using his phone and walking, so at least I am on theme! I realise too, that it is at a slight angle, but you can’t have everything!
I didn’t go into the café because I needed to get home as I have an appointment this afternoon, but perhaps the next time I am in town I will pop in and see if the owners are Swedish or just using the name “Fika”. Having consulted Mr. Google, this is the meaning of fika:
“Fika is a Swedish tradition of taking a coffee break, often with a snack, and is more than just a coffee break; it's a social ritual and a way to slow down and appreciate the small joys of life. It can happen at any time of day, alone or with others, and is a way to recharge and connect with loved ones. The focus is on slowing down and enjoying the moment.”
Mr. HCB has been out in the garden since well before 8 o’clock and it is now almost midday - he is doing so well and has managed to weed the front half of our long bed - but he’s getting there. Sadly, I can’t kneel down, so I’m not able to help him, but I will do some more pruning and help him in some small way. He has weeded the patio, and got the table and chairs out, so perhaps we should have our “fika” out there today.
I've put in an extra, taken from the end where Mr. HCB started the weeding and you will see how long the bed is. The sky is a gorgeous blue, with just a few clouds - and it is very sunny and warm out there. It's almost time for him to come in - but he has been very sensible and is wearing his Tilley hat, so hopefully has been protected from the sun. M xx
P.S. A message from the Silly Saturday Gang:
Thank you so much for putting us at the top of the Popular Page - WooHoo - what a great bunch you all are! xx
