Taking a rest

A lovely sunny morning as I popped out to the nearby shops for some milk. Our youngest grandson is not so happy today and is clearly suffering from his chickenpox.   His older brother was rather sweet with him first thing telling how the spots will quickly go and distracting him by getting him to say the colours of various things he pointed out while I was changing his nappy.

After breakfast we packed up our bags and headed for home. We had a relatively straightforward drive and arrived back in time for a late lunch.

I was pleased to see that the various vegetable plants I had potted up and some germinated seedlings were all in good health.  Late afternoon I went for a short walk by the River Otter as I particularly wanted to see if the poplar trees leaves the lovely orange colour that they are when they first emerge.  There was still a little of the colour left  but the star of the show was the swan sitting on a nearby nest.  It was taking a little rest as its head slowly dropped down.  Its nearby mate can just be seen in the extra in the distance.  As I walked back I also spotted a hare in a nearby field.

A lovely short walk.
