The Woodland Garden (Sunday 27th April 2025)
It had been three weeks since Bryn had been available for gardening on a Sunday morning so I was surprised to find him cutting back the ivy from the shed late in the morning. I'd been given permission by my neighbours to drill fixings into their garage wall to secure my climbing rose against it, to create space for cars, so we spent some time working out how to achieve that in the future, and he did some tidying up of the patio area and filling up my trailer and green-waste bin with cuttings. I continued weeding plant pots and baskets, and took some pictures, including these copper beech leaves, taken from underneath. Both lilac trees were in bloom (see Extra).

Lozarithm's Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Yardbirds - I wish you would (recorded live, 20 June 1965, Europa 1, Palais des Sports, Paris)
Yardbirds: Keith Relf (vcl, har), Jeff Beck (ld gtr), Chris Dreja (rh gtr), John Paul Jones (bass), Jim McCarty (dr)
I Wish You Would was the first single by the Yardbirds in May 1964, when Eric Clapton was in the band. It was a blues, first written and recorded by Billy Boy Arnold in 1955. This live version, first released in 2019, is included on the 3CD compilation Box Of Pin-Ups - The British Sounds Of 1965, but surprisingly the ever-changing line-up of the band is not given in the notes. It took a while to work out who they were then as members swapped instruments. Eric Clapton had left in March 1965 and when Jimmy Page had been offered a place in the band he had instead recommended Jeff Beck, who was with them through their classic period as they moved away from the blues.
