From a Slow Morning to a Soulful Evening

Today was one of those wonderfully lazy days that feel well-earned. I spent much of it reading in bed, even into the early afternoon, only getting up when hunger finally coaxed me out. After getting dressed, I headed downstairs, made some toast, and settled on the sofa with a different book. It was a lovely, slow afternoon.

Later, PY slow-cooked a lamb shoulder, and we enjoyed an early dinner before heading to Covent Garden for Songs I’ll Never Sing – A Concert for Harry Wright. The charity concert celebrated the life of Harry Wright, a musical theatre performer who passed away in 2019 from a brain tumour, with all proceeds going to brain tumour charities.

The evening featured West End performers singing songs they wouldn’t normally have the chance to perform because of age, gender, race, or casting. It opened beautifully with the West End Gospel Choir performing Seasons of Love from Rent. Every performer was outstanding; it’s hard to choose a highlight. The photograph captures them all during the show’s finale — a stirring mashup of This Is Me and You Will Be Found.
