Colomba
While I remember I added the art quiz to yesterday's blip if you want to have a go - I got full marks so very chuffed!
This is a Colomba an Italian Easter cake but made with candied orange peel and almonds. It came from Sainsbury's and we finally got around to cutting it yesterday. The word Colomba is Italian for dove and if you look creatively you can see the cake is in the shape of a dove. It was very light and absolutely delicious.
I went to the Rectory this morning to meet a cleaner who was going to quote to clean the house once the workmen have finished. She did it for us 5 years ago and was very complimentary about the changes .
Next stop was Meggetland at the Rugby pavilion where I met Mike and David for coffee and our Cursillo reunion group. We've been meeting up, in Mike's case, since 1990 and with David since about 1995! It was good to catch up. We are all the fairly snowed under at the moment so time out to share some of the load, which we all understand, is good. Mike's church appointed a new Rector a couple of weeks ago
On the way home I picked up a new lavender to replace one in the back garden which has gone very woody .
After some very tasty duck a l'orange for dinner we watched the semi final of UC. I would have preferred the other team to win, but the winners were the better balanced team
