The Road Less Travelled

Manic Tuesday

The last few days have been manic and too-busy-to-blip days which is bad as we are supposed to be on holiday…but also in throws of final prep for letting the house …and it is misbehaving as usual which doesn’t help.

Sunday we got up early for a flying visit to my parents. Unfortunately on arrival we got a text from our neighbour here that the police had been doing door to door enquiries following a shocking break in and robbery a few doors down on Saturday night. We checked out CCTV to look for footage of the robbers and were utterly shocked to see they had tried to steal our car and break into our home whilst we slept upstairs at 0100. Disturbing footage to say the least, and hugely shocking in a village community that is so safe people don’t lock their doors.
Therefore an evening that should have been family time turned into a lot of phone calls with the police. We headed back yesterday via Port Glasgow (for some speed shopping for last minute bedding and some wet wall). Then back to tranquility for a lengthy police visit to give a statement and pass over the CCTV footage. I hope our footage can nail them.

Today turned into a non stop work day as we rushed to do all the unfinished jobs - it took me hours to finish the welcome book, then there were inventories to log, keys to sort out, business accounts to set up with local suppliers, and we had to strip the house of all of our personal possessions and food supplies that have accumulated. We should of course have been more organised months ago… i am far better at project management of big projects like the refurb, and unfortunately procrastinate the important minutiae tasks. What a day!
