A Dam good view!
A busy day yesterday left home at 6 am returning at 5 pm after being very active at the Waimea Community Dam taking more pictures for Waimea Water's induction program.
There's many that think its been a waste of money but for me its worth every penny, every year since we moved here there's been water restrictions through each summer but as soon as the dam opened all of that is history.
Its not accessible to the general public as it on private land and the only access in on log truck roads and even that is restricted to those working at the dam.
The main Blip is from the top of the dam looking downstream.
The Extras.
1/ The Spillway feeds into a plunge pool and for scale there is a guy in high viz on the rocks the plume behind him is from the smallest of three valves releasing 1400 litres a second.
2/ The back face of the dam looking along the lake.
3/ Another view of the lake with the barrier to stop any floating debris reaching the Spillway.
4/ A little wildlife too an NZ Falcon allowed me to get pretty close to him.
5/ The Spillway and the drop into the plunge pool while water flows down it the dam is full.
The weather was kind the light was tricky to start but improved as the day wore on from being cool to becoming quite warm.
