A MOST ENJOYABLE DAY!
I haven’t seen my lovely friend, Rachel, for sometime, so when she suggested we had coffee together this morning, I jumped at the chance. Rachel lives within walking distance of Jack’s, so we arranged to meet there. We had a lot to catch up on and definitely “talked the hind leg off a donkey” or even two or three!
She said she missed seeing my Blips, so I gave her the link so that she could look and then asked, very nicely, if I could take a photograph of her - and she kindly agreed.
As we were leaving, we saw one of the chefs obviously trying to find a cool spot in the café - and I guess there would no cooler place than in the freezer!
Having parted company with Rachel, after visiting DEBRA, my favourite charity shop, I decided to walk down through Lawn Woods, a local park, which runs from Old Town down to Queens Drive. I messaged Mr. HCB to tell him that I would walk through the woods, and then ring him so that he could come and collect me, which he was happy to do.
It was just after midday and there were lots of people just sitting on the grass, eating their lunch - and even some sunbathing - well it was rather a hot day, but rather them than me in the “heat of the noonday sun”! At the bottom of my collage, you can see a lovely view of one of the lakes and also some bluebells in Lawn Woods - so good to be out and appreciating Nature in all her glory.
I don’t normally walk along the quite deserted paths, but today, decided that I would as there seemed to be quite a lot of couples about and I felt quite safe. I used my Merlin Bird App and heard 8 different birds, including a Blue Tit, Great Tit, Wren, Blackbird, Robin - you can see one in my collage - Jackdaw, Blackcap and as described in the app a Common Wood Pigeon.
On my way down one of the paths, a young couple came towards me and they were chatting about a Wood pigeon who disappeared into quite a large hole in a nearby tree. We all stood and watched it for a while and then I told them about the Merlin Bird App. They said that they had downloaded it only yesterday, so I showed them how many different birds I had heard just a few minutes before.
I also told them about Blip - of course I did - as the young man said he had just started taking photographs again. I said it was a great way to keep a diary of what was seen each day and the young lady noted down the website address and also my Username. Perhaps another convert to Blip - who knows?
They went on their way, going the opposite way to me, when I suddenly realised I could have given them a little wooden heart each, so called after them - and put one into their hands to bless them. They both thanked me and we took our leave of one another.
On a warm and sunny day, having met a friend for coffee, had a lovely walk, then met this young couple and heard so many lovely birds singing, I count that as a good day. Mr. HCB came to collect me and we are now sitting indoors in the cool - because it is far too hot to sit outside or in our conservatory.
Hope the sun is shining wherever you are. M xx
