Alexander ‘Greek’ Thomson
The research I referred to concerns a house designed by Alexander Thomson, a renowned Victorian Architect who designed and produced many of Glasgow’s Greatest Victorian buildings.
A friend of a friend inquired about an apartment in what was a ‘Greek Thomson’ terrace. The friend was querying the floor layout and the accommodation on each of the four floors. Relations of the friend had bought what she termed ‘the main door’ flat.
Today’s entry shows the cover of the ‘Bible’ of the work of ‘Greek Thomson’.
The original design was for a four floor terrace house. The original plans are illustrated in the ‘Bible’. I was able to copy all of this information and will forward it to the friend.
I understand that the Relations of the friend have appointed a ‘designer’ to carry out work on the apartment.
I hope that the designer is aware of the significance of work by Alexander Thomson and also the many hoops that he/she is going to jump through to achieve the required permissions.
I wish them well.
