Diary of an Edinburgher

By LadyMarchmont

Well, that was a hot one! Or warm, by other measurements… so warm in the afternoon/evening, we did not need to keep moving to avoid the shade from the gigantic Canadian Pine tree  a couple of gardens down. We, as long as I can remember, have always moved out of its shade. But today it was just WARM all evening. Such a treat.

I took Archie over to the links to meet up with John and Amanda. They were suitably attired for the warm day in shorts and sandals, and they went to the Hermitage - perfect shade under the trees, a river for paddling in, and they stopped at the cafe for a coffee and cake.

They brought Archie back at the appointed time - 2pm ish, for JR insisted that he needed a bath before the visitors came.

Lots of nibbles were assembled at a leisurely pace in the afternoon, after Archie’s bath, and everything was in order for our guests arriving around 4pm. And a most pleasant afternoon was had by all. Our guests really hit it off and swapped WhatsApps.- I love it when that happens -

Actually, the Canadian Pine tree is in our new friends’ garden, and they hate it. But seeing just what an effect it has on gardens around them, has spurred them on to perhaps doing something about broaching the subject with the person who planted it, in their shared garden, as a cute wee Christmas tree 25 years ago…

I forgot to take any photos, but this was taken when some had moved to the last bit of sunshine, while others hadn’t bothered - it was still warm. Archie seems bored…

More of this weather, please…
