Another Lady’s Slipper Orchid
Yesterday I blipped a European one, the only one which grows wild in the U.K.
You seemed to like it so here is another one. Mrs K. Has been growing hybrid varieties in our garden for many years. You can buy them on the Internet.
Mrs. K. tells me Cypripedium 'Gisela' is a hardy, deciduous lady's slipper orchid hybrid known for its vigor and ease of cultivation. It features a striking flower with a cream pouch, burgundy markings, and deep burgundy-red upright petals. This hybrid, is a cross between Cypripedium macranthos from Russia and Cypripedium parviflorum from the USA
It was hybridised in germany by the famed orchid grower Werner Frosch
