Campo dos Mártires da Pátria.

Backblip from last night folks, as we are on our way home.
Decided to enjoy a meal at Honest Greens last night as we checked it out in Porto.
Must admit great food, fresh and prepared to order. So if you get a chance check them out.
Anyway after our walk decided to try the funicular railway up to the area.
Discovered a cool ice cream shop in front of the medical school and it was graduation day/night. The place was buzzing with the young students.
I had spotted this statue on one of our bus tours and wondered what it was.
We ask one of the young students and she told us it was erected in memory of Dr Sousa Martins in 1904.
The foot of the statue is surrounded by marble plaques giving thanks for unexpected cures and is a site where devotee’s visit and pray on the anniversary of his birth and death.
Really a glorious way to end our trip and to crown it all managed to sit outside with our gelato and watch these bright young things enjoy their moment.
I wonder what the future holds for them ?
Extra’s.
