Danger!

This is a paperweight entitled 'Seascape' made by Caithness Glass.  A fairly benign object - or so I thought.  A few years ago I noticed some sheets of plastic on my worktop had holes burnt in them.  This puzzled me then I realised - the sun's rays shining through the window onto this glass sphere were being magnified and melting the plastic - a very real fire hazard...
It is now kept out of direct sunlight.
