Speke Hall NT

We (Terry and I) had a visit to Speke Hall. It's about 11 miles from home and one of our favourite National Trust places.
The bluebells were outstanding - carpets of them throughout the woodland - photos don't do them justice and of course, you can't capture the wonderful scent on a photo.
Extras are of the hall itself.
It was a baking hot day but a lot of our walks were in the shade of trees. We don't always go in the hall but we did today - no matter how many times you visit, something new catches your attention.
We had lunch in the cafe and later we had an ice-cream before setting off home.
I bagged a geocache while we were there. there were two but I only did one of them. It was at an ancient and very rare tree called Wollemia nobilis. Apparently there are less than 100 throughout the world. The tree itself looked fairly unremarkable for such an important specimen. I had read about the tree due to the geocache being there and we hadn't known anything about it before. I'm not sure it's a good idea to have a geocache so close to this tree! However, the owner doesn't seem to be caching any more or at least has not been on the geocaching website for a while so I expect that the cache won't last long.
