The northern lights (Aurora Borealis) put on a good show on this night, and were seen near enough throughout the whole of the UK. Went to my usual spot in the Upper Knockbain area of the Black Isle, looking towards Ben Wyvis, with the street lights of Dingwall to the left. The Moon was setting behind a cloudbank. It was the first time I'd seen them in a few years, despite other local folk recording them regularly over that time. It was also the first time I'd ever seen pink and purple in the colours. Their source direction was from overhead looking slightly towards WSW, rather than the North.
Above photo was the first taken, at 14 minutes after midnight. All the others were taken with a manual focused ultrawide angled lens at 14mm and f/2.8.
