Polish Coal

With the closure of the last Welsh coal mine, which produced excellent 'clean' coal for heritage railways, we now have no choice but to import it but the quality is very different.   This batch makes a lot of very authentic looking but undesirably dirty smoke.  Not only do the poorer options bring an increased risk of lineside fires as hot embers blow through with the smoke, some of them can damage the locomotives and make more work for engine crews.   It does however make for more eyecatching photographs.

A very quiet day at Aber cafe, it's beach weather.   Home to tea with Jamie who had spent the afternoon with Meg at mine - it's cooler at mine - before we went down onto the beach with his new self built beach wheelchair.  Bella got to run free on the wide expanse of sand ... she got the zoomies ... and Jamie got to paddle his feet in the water.  Good times :-)

I ended the day at the evening community session at pottery.  A bit of work done and some catching up with friends.
