lovely things ending in lovely ways

i've been doing this "photo a day" thing for awhile now, on facebook, but i like the idea of it being more of a journal than an album. hence, i am here now.

this was on the way back from our annual summer vacation, which always seems to fall on the same week. these vacations are comprised mostly of good music, too much food, and petty family spats, me not getting tan, s'moreos (oreo+melty marshmellow=le yum), and living on the water. this year's vacation was enhanced by the gorgeous cottage, neatly placed on 40 acres along with a well-tended courtyard, herb garden, field, old orchard, hiking path, and another house- a summer home for the family who rents out the cottage. they are some of the most gracious people i've ever met- eager to please, to entertain, to comfort, and to enjoy whatever company comes their way.

on the ride home we passed through sporadic storms and sun patches which made for some awesome lighting on the hills which i was unable to capture, being in a car and all. ah well.
