A Very Brief Encounter

We paused awhile at the famous Carnforth Station en route to our change of trains at Lancaster a short while ago. Carnforth was the location rife with atmospheric clouds of steam, high pitched whistles, fast beating hearts and guilt ridden conversations between star crossed lovers Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard over British Rail (?) cups of tea in the platform cafe back in the black and white 1945 movie classic.

Bentham Station was also bedecked with bunting on the way through, celebrating its 175th birthday today, the train disgorging several railway enthusiasts and the man unveiling the plaque.

Now we are on the Glasgow train, heading to Motherwell and a long weekend with J and P.
