Greenfly Picnic

Big day out! I took my packup for a ride up Wharfedale, over to Hawes and back via Ribblehead.

The greenfly joined me early on and at one point, I probably had sixty to one hundred hunkered down on my thighs as I pedalled along. I tried to grab a photo of them at Grassington but as soon as I paused, they floated off like tiny, cheering fairies into space.

The temperature was ideal and with a light headwind on the way home, even when the temperatures hotted up, I was still OK. Starving though, I had an unplanned stop in Settle for a baked potato and cheese which was the best, and definitely worthwhile for a calorie top-up before tackling the last hill for home.

Had a few lovely sightings besides the greenfly, including a large hare running up the Thorpe hill while I was carrying my friends to Grassington.
This decrepit barn gets a little more weary every time I cycle by.

Bit like me :D
