Life is a Challenge!

FLOWER FRIDAY - FROM OUR GARDEN!

For the first time for a few days, Mr. HCB was not up and out in the garden at the crack of dawn - instead, when I came downstairs, he was sitting in the conservatory reading, having just had his breakfast.   I decided that I would go out and take shots of the various flowers before the sun was on them - so off I went with my selfie stick because it’s easier to get close up when the phone is steadier.

He then said he would take me to Jack’s for a coffee, so of course, I was in full agreement, but I decided against having a slice of the coffee and walnut cake - perhaps next time!

You might wonder why there is a dandelion in amongst the flowers - as many people think this is a weed, but a few days ago, Simon, a dear Blip friend, said the following in his journal - and I hope he will forgive me for quoting him:

“Dandelion seeds, like the rest of the plant, offer several potential health benefits, including acting as a natural diuretic, supporting digestion, and potentially boosting the immune system. They are also a good source of vitamins and minerals.”

There is also a big fat bud of the Guernsey Cream Clematis and before long, if this sunshine continues and we get some rain, this will be beautiful.

Speaking of rain, our garden desperately needs rain - as I’m sure many of yours do too but it doesn’t look as if there is any on the horizon for the next ten days.  Mr. HCB tends to use the water in our butts to water the plants, but that takes its toll on him having to carry watering cans with large amounts of water to and fro.  The trouble with our weather is that once it starts raining, it never knows when to stop!

Off to deliver our Bags of Hope now - and then perhaps we can come home and sit in the garden and relax.

Take care and have a great weekend - for those of you working, it will be a long weekend, but for those of us who are retired, every day’s a holiday!   M xx
