After... (Friday 2nd May 2025)

It's been so long no-one probably remembers 'Before...' from last December, but with the work finally finished for the second time, today the scaffolding was finally removed.

Merseybeats - I Stand Accused (1965)
This sixties classic is included on CD2 of Box Of Pin-Ups, and the notes relate how the band asked their managers to acquire the rights to Jerry Butler's I Stand Accused, but they mistakenly cleared a different song of the same name, written by Tony Colton. They recorded it anyway, with Keith Moon banging a gong on the record. The Merseybeats' version of the song was covered by Elvis Costello in 1979 for his album Get Happy!!
