There is no way to tell which of these is the male and which is female as they are sexually monomorphic, meaning there is no discernible difference between the sexes. In this instance, I could not even hazard a guess based on behavior because their interaction was very quick and then they flew off together. Still, I think it makes for an interesting image and I was quite pleased that both birds were on essentially the same focal plane. That never happens!
Allergies/rhinitis is still plaguing me today but marginally better. At least I'm not sneezing my head off. Very hard to do nature photography when you're scaring off the wildlife! It is another stunner of a day, warm and breezy. We may get some rain overnight which should help the pollen situation. Either way, I'm committed to a full day at the fair grounds tomorrow photographing hunter/jumper events. Super excited to be doing this as I've been wanting to photograph "horses in flight" for quite a while.
Hubs is at the Pocono Raceway doing another track day with his race car. Last we talked a few hours ago, all was going well (other than his allergies) and next up will be an actual race later this month. Much excitement!
I scheduled an appointment with the Travel MD to sort out meds and vaccines for my upcoming trip to Brazil. I am traveling to the Pantanal which would usually mean a Yellow Fever vax, but I don't think I am going to be able to get it because I take immunosuppressants. Luckily, I am meeting with my rheumatologist a few days before the Travel MD, so I will ask him. Everything I've read says no since it is a live vaccine and my immune system is compromised, but we'll see. I think I still need typhoid and prophylactic meds for malaria. And I will just bathe in mosquito repellant every day I am there.
I bought a couple of begonias with beautiful orange blooms so repotted them both today and put them on the deck in semi-shade. It's been a while since I've had them but I recall that they bloom well all summer as long as their are watered regularly. Next week I will go to the local farm and pick up some perennial and annual plants...my hands long to dig in the dirt.
I have not looked to see what the current administration has done today. Eventually I will have to look, but for right now, I need to stay in my protective little bubble for just a little longer. Hard when the lunatics have been given free rein of the asylum.
