If you want to count...

Our neighbour has been felling some trees. He's doing it in a way that is unusual in Sweden. He takes a few trees from one section of forest, then moves on  and takes a few from another bit of forest, then moves again...   The whole forest, viewed from a distance, looks unchanged. Even close up the missing trees look almost natural, though just now the newly cut stumps shine rather brightly.
How old was this tree when it was felled? I didn't take a huge amount of time counting but a quick count gave me 105 years, which means this tree started growing in 1920! In turn that probably means it's around 100 years since this forest was last felled. For the first roughly 55 years of this tree's life it grew very slowly, at least in terms of the diameter of its trunk. Maybe it put all the effort into growing tall? Or maybe the forest was thinned in the mid 1970's? I don't have much knowledge of tree growth!
Anyway it was a lovely walk!
