Birds and More Birds!
So many birds!
The first surprise of the day was that the Rose-breasted Grosbeak did not move on! He stayed! He appeared this morning in the trees and feeders in the front garden and hung around all day. What a treat! I had to use him for my main as he is just soooo cute! He looks like a little stuffed toy!
The second surprise was that I actually was able to photograph a warbler with my little Canon camera! Imagine that! (extra)
It was such a beautiful day that I decided to go to Thickson Woods in search of warblers. It is migration season and that woods is full of all kinds of warblers at the moment. Merlin picked up the songs of several varieties but I only managed to get a photo of one - the aptly named Yellow-rumped Warbler, formerly known as the Myrtle Warbler. (What's in a name anyway? )
I also got a photo of a Tree Swallow, an Oriole and a Gray Catbird before heading home to find the usual suspects that hang out in my own back yard..a pair of Northern Cardinals, a Blue Jay and an American Goldfinch to add to today's colourful collage! (extras)
Tomorrow I hope to post something other than a bird.
