Goodbye #2

The chap in the middle of this photo - at the back and wearing the light blue shirt - is finally retiring. He's been winding down for the past couple of years, moving to a few hours a week, but with some health issues of his own and in his family, he's decided to actually retire now - despite an ongoing chant of "four more years!"

It was another emotional lunch, with tears and laughter. His going will leave a big hole in our business in every sense.

The man is a class act and whilst I was initially tasked with stepping into his shoes a few years back, I quickly realised that I was never going to be able to do that. Better to adopt his mindset and approach and deliver it in my own way rather than a pale imitation of the man himself.

He will be missed.
