Yellow Pitcher Plant, Sarracena flava
Hurrah, my Pitcher plant is flowering.
These carnivorous plants are mainly to be found in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and up through the Carolinas.
I have never tried growing them before now. Last Autumn a botanical friend in the village gave me this one. Thanks Lynne.
I was a little surprised that it survived well all winter in the cold greenhouse.
So far so good. Now the fascination will be watching to see if it develops insect catching pitchers. If it does you can be sure it will feature in another Blip !
