Two Of Us

Today we walked around the "bird pool" and noticed these two very small goldeneye youngsters. Usually the goldeneye mother has more than two offspring and she would not leave such young ones alone. So we were worried. They clearly felt safe with humans around them so perhaps some predators had threatened them?
