"Hi Dave. Any chance you can have a go at fixing this for my Missus?"
"What is it?! And what's wrong with it?"
"A Dyson hairdryer. It stopped working, and I don't want to have to buy another one!"
"A hair dryer? Well that's different!"
Off to YouTube to see if there's a how-to-dismantle-a... video for it. And later, curiosity got the better of me - basic hairdryer £20 - £25, so a Dyson one is surely about £60. Eek, I was so wrong. Recommended retail price, just over £300! Though a few could be had for about £275. Now I appreciate the desire not to rush out and buy another one.
Lead had broken at the usual spot from folk wrapping up the cable too tightly/neatly - just where it enters the handle. Replacements available via the big auction site.
At work, fixed a Bernina sewing machine for the Art department. Took a while to figure out how to dismantle it
