Recipe books.
We went to Chippenham this morning to a fascinating hands on session at the Swindon and Wiltshire History Centre.
The topic this month was historic recipes. We got to look at recipe books dating back to the early 1600s. Fascinating stuff.
The staff member who was running the session had made three different products using the original recipes.
Cracknels- a biscuit made with caraway seeds ( really tasty), Jumbles- another type of biscuit (also good) and a bun ( that was very dense and a bit dry)
This is a modern version of the original recipe: https://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/jumble_biscuits_20028
