Beginnings

I started running in the early 1980s after a neck injury forced me to give up rugby. I was living in Shawlands in the Southside of Glasgow at the time, so nearby Pollok Park was one of my regular routes.

This morning I went back and did the Parkrun there. It felt weird and wonderful at the same time to be running on paths I ran on back then. It hurt too. The course "undulates".

I was blessed with a perfect morning for it. My Extra is from the area after the finish where your barcode is scanned.

I got my Blip at 07.30 on my way back to my hotel (The Social Hub) after breakfast. The hotel's did not start until 8am, which is no use to someone running 5k at 09.30.

Everywhere looks better when the sun shines, but Pollok is one of the most scenic courses I have been to.
